Ballet triptych MYTH, RAIN DOGS, APERTURE

This performance consists of three contemporary ballet pieces that explore various aspects of human existence and relationships.

Myth, a brand-new creation by the young Slovenian choreographer Gaj Žmavc, delves into the exploration of folklore tales and myths from the European North. It is a fascinating exploration of traditional narratives and how they impact our lives in modern times.

Aperture, created by the internationally renowned and multi-award-winning choreographer Edward Clug, explores the concept of interior spaces and human intimacy. The stage becomes a voyeuristic peek into the protagonists’ mutual attraction, their intimate moments, and the gradual or sudden disappearance of their desire for one another. Clug’s creation is visionary, and it is a phenomenal work of art that has been widely acclaimed by critics.

Rain Dogs, by acclaimed choreographer Johan Inger, is an animalistic perspective of social existence from the bottom of the society. The piece is inspired by Tom Waits’ music, and it follows the journey of a dog that, in the rain, explores its territory with great curiosity and self-confidence. As the rain washes away all the scents, the dog suddenly loses its way back home. Inger’s metaphor of the dog is a starting point for exploring interpersonal relationships, identity, and gender constructs that individuals must often face and resist.

The triple-bill promises to be a thought-provoking, visually stunning, and emotionally powerful experience. The three pieces presented in this performance will take the audience on a journey through intimacy, and the struggle for identity, challenging us to question our understanding of human relationships and existence.
