Christopher Thompson


Christopher Thompson, a native of New York, embarked on his lifelong dedication to ballet at The Professional Performing Arts High School. He continued to cultivate his passion by training at The National Dance Institute in Harlem and the Ballet Academy East in New York.

From 2014 to 2017, Christopher expanded his horizons by joining the School of American Ballet in New York, where he thrived under the artistic direction of Jock Soto and Jonathan Stafford. His quest for excellence led him to become a part of the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, from September 2017 to June 2019. Seeking to further refine his skills, Christopher’s training journey took him across the Atlantic to London. There, he became a member of the Danceworks Academy Youth Ballet Company in Mayfair.

Christopher’s professional experience commenced with the Opera and Ballet of Slovenian National Theater Ljubljana in February 2020, guided by the artistic direction of Renato Zanella and Petar Dorčevski. Since October 2021, Christopher is a member of the Ballet of Slovenian National Theater Maribor.

His extensive dance portfolio includes an array of memorable roles in ballets such as Radio and Juliet, Aperture, Carmina Burana, Peer Gynt, Rite of Spring, Les Noces, Tango choreographed by Edward Clug, and Romeo and Juliet, Death in Venice, and Madame Bovary by Valentina Turcu. Christopher has taken on roles like Espada in Don Quixote choreographed by Krzysztof Nowogrodzki, and he has danced in productions like Nutcracker choreographed by David Nixon, Swan Lake by Viktor Litvinov, Giselle by Rafael Avnikjan, Le Corsaire by Jose Martinez, Rain Dogs by Johan Inger, Myth by Gaj Žmavc, Opus 73 and Alles Waltzer by Renato Zanella, Five Tangos by Hans van Manen, Romeo and Juliet (as Mandolin Boy) by Peter Martins, Harlequinade (as Scaramouche), Vienna Waltzes, and The Nutcracker and Tchaikovsky Pas de Deux by George Balanchine. Furthermore, he has showcased his talents in operas such as Aida with choreography by Edward Clug and Cavalleria Rusticana with choreography by Lukas Zuschlag.

In addition, Christopher shares his knowledge and expertise by teaching dance at Plesna šola Pingi in Maribor, Slovenia, and Danceworks Ballet Academy in London, England.
