Matteo Magalotti


Matteo Magalotti has been making waves in the world of ballet since his early years. Born in Rimini, Italy, Magalotti’s passion for dance was ignited when he began his training at the “Centro Danza Futura” ballet school at the young age of six. From then on, his journey has taken him across the world, honing his skills and performing with some of the most renowned companies in the industry. Magalotti’s classical training took place at the prestigious Balletakademie des Wiener Staatsoper, where he studied under the guidance of Simona Noja Nebyla. During his time there, he received training from renowned choreographers such as Gianpiero Russo, Bella Ratchinskaja, Alejandro Parente, Rafael Avnikjan, Sharon Booth, and Jed O’Grady Weiss.

Throughout his career, Magalotti has had the opportunity to work with some of the most celebrated choreographers in the industry. His repertoire includes a variety of works, from classical ballet to contemporary dance. In 2015, he was chosen to perform in the Wiener Staatsoper Opernball choreography by Evelin Teri. The following year, Magalotti was featured in the Volksoper Wien’s production of Romeo and Juliet, once again under the direction of Teri.

In 2016, Magalotti joined the Jugendkompanie des Wiener Staatsoper, where he worked under the direction of Manuel Legris (Staatsoper) and Vesna Orlic (Volksoper). His performances included Jean Renshaw’s Armide at the Staatsoper, as well as Fledermaus, Anatevka, Bettelstudent, Cendrillon by Thierry Malandain, Romeo and Juliet by Davide Bombana, Raymonda by Rudolf Nureyev, and Ein Sommernachtstraum by Jorma Elo at the Volksoper.

Magalotti’s career has also taken him to Hannover, Germany, where he worked with Jörg Mannes at the Hannover Ballet. There, he performed in productions such as Marylin, Inferno – Eine Italo Revue, and Nevermore – Ein Abend für Edgar Allan Poe by Jörg Mannes and Mauro Bigonzetti.

Currently, Magalotti is a member of the Ballet of Slovene National Theatre Maribor, His performances include Cinderella in Jean Christophe Maillot’s choreography, Cantata by Mauro Bigonzetti, Nutcracker by David Nixon, Don Quixote by Krzysztof Nowogrodzki, Left Right Left Right by Alexander Ekman, Giselle by Rafael Avnikjan, Handman, Peer Gynt, Le Sacre du Printemps, Les Noces, Povodni mož, Tango, Radio and Juliet, Carmina Burana, all choreographed by Edward Clug and Death in Venice, Madame Bovary and Romeo and Juliet by Valentina Turcu.

Magalotti’s dedication and talent have earned him several awards and scholarships throughout his career. He received a full scholarship to attend the San Francisco Ballet School Summer Session in 2015 and was a prize winner at the Concours Rudolf Nureyev, earning him a scholarship to The National M.K.Čiurlionis School of Art in 2019.
