Olesja Hartmann Marin
Olesja Hartmann Marin, born in Kazakhstan, began her dance journey at a private ballet school in Fürth, Germany. In 2002, she was accepted into the State Ballet Academy in Munich, where she successfully completed her studies, graduating as a ballet dancer. Her first employment was with Ballet Ireland in Dublin, performing throughout the United Kingdom.
Since 2009, Olesja Hartmann Marin has been a member of the Ballet of the Slovene National Theatre Maribor. She has danced numerous leading roles such as Myrtha (Giselle), Mercedes/Queen of the Driads (Don Quixote), Carmen (Carmen), Juliet (Radio & Juliet), Big Swan/Spanish Dance/Hungarian Dance Solo (Swan Lake), solo role in the ballet Paquita, Chosen One (The Rite of Spring), Aunt Pehta (Kekec), Bella and Russian Woman (Death in Venice), Madame l’Hereux (Madame Bovary), and has also been part of ballet ensemble performances.
She has participated in state festivities, most notably embodying the role of Urška in Povodni mož choreographed by Valentina Turcu, for the Prešeren Awards. With the Maribor Ballet ensemble, she has performed in renowned theaters and dance festivals in Dubrovnik, Budapest, Brno, Sao Paulo, St. Petersburg, and Moscow, and toured in the Czech Republic, Finland, Croatia, Italy, China, Colombia, Hungary, Mexico, Germany, Romania, Russia, Serbia and elsewhere.
In 2003, she received the Cultural Award from the city of Fürth, and in 2011, she was given special recognition by the Society of Ballet Artists of Slovenia for her portrayal of Myrtha in the ballet Giselle.
