“The music expresses that which cannot be put into words and that which cannot remain silent,” once wrote the great French writer Victor Hugo insightfully. Others, however, hear in music a universal language that connects people of different cultures in the act of dedicated listening without them having to speak a single word.

This year’s concert Opera Night, which you, dear lovers of the “good old” classical music, can enjoy on June 8, 2024, in the middle of the City Park Maribor, also offers a rich selection of musical pieces where everyone will surely find something for themselves. The Symphony Orchestra of SNG Maribor, soloists Sabina Cvilak, soprano, and Domen Križaj, baritone, along with the choir of the Opera SNG Maribor, under the baton of conductor and artistic director Simon Krečič, will prepare several musical surprises for you, featuring well-known melodies from popular operas and operettas such as The Bartered Bride, Rusalka, The Barber of Seville, Venus in Silk, Tosca, The Magic Flute, and Lucia di Lammermoor. There will also be something for lovers of orchestral music, as you will be able to enjoy the rich orchestral palette in kaleidoscopic sound images of overtures, rhapsodies, and symphonic poems. Therefore, we warmly invite you to spend a pleasant evening in our company again this year, filled with harmonious music that always connects and inspires us.
