Roberto Gianola


Roberto Gianola boasts important collaborations that have led him to conduct orchestras all over the world: Europe, USA, Central and South America, Russia, Turkey, Egypt, China, Korea, Japan and the United Arab Emirates.

Music Director of the Istanbul Opera and Ballet Theatre (Devlet Opera ve Balesi), where he made his debut in February 2015 conducting The Tales of Hoffmann by Offenbach, he is a leading figure in both the opera repertoire, in which he is a specialist, and the symphonic and ballet repertoire.

Guest of great halls such as the Musikverein in Vienna, the Lincoln Center and the Carnegie Hall in New York, the Seoul Arts Center, the theatres of Hong Kong, Beijing and Macao, he has collaborated with prestigious Italian realities such as the Fondazione Arena di Verona, the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, Teatro Verdi in Trieste, Teatro Regio in Parma, Sala Verdi in Milan and with orchestras such as the Orchestra I Pomeriggi Musicali di Milano, I Virtuosi del Teatro alla Scala, I Cameristi del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana in Palermo and the Orchestra Sinfonica di Sanremo.

The 2022 season saw his debut at the Ljubljana Opera with Capuleti e Montecchi , conducting the ballet Sleeping Beauty, Don Chishotte, Norma and Falstaff in Istanbul, Don Pasquale at the Teatro Verdi in Trieste, Manon Lescaut at the Teatro del Giglio in Lucca, Elisir d’Amore at the Teatro Lirico in Cagliari, Cavalleria Rusticana in Livorno, Don Pasquale at the Teatro Coccia in Novara and La Boheme at the Kithakyushu Opera in Japan and at the Fuerteventura Opera.

The 2023 season will see him on the podium of the Hong Kong Opera with La Boheme, at the Ljubljana Opera with Il Trovatore and Romeo and Juliet (Ballet), at the Coccia Theater in Novara with Il Paese dei Campanelli, at the Verdi Theater in Sassari with Barber of Seville, at Skopje Opera with Aida, Astana Opera, Opera Fuerteventura with Nabucco and concerts with I Pomeriggi Musicali of Milan, Metropolitan Orchestra of Bari, Magna Grecia Orchestra of Taranto, as well as invitations to Poland, Bulgaria and London with the London City Philharmonic Orchestra.

As artistic director he founded the Lake Como Philharmonic Orchestra and the Lake Como Music Academy on Lake Como, which in 20 years of activity have distinguished themselves for the organisation of major events (operas and concerts), competitions (opera singing and conducting) and opera singing master classes.

Roberto Gianola’s discography includes a Stradivarius CD with the Orchestra “I Pomeriggi Musicali” of Milan and a CD with music by Respighi recorded with the Symphonic Orchestra of Sanremo and published for the magazine “Amadeus”.

At the beginning of 2022 a double CD of unpublished works by Franco Alfano will be released, to be recorded in Sala Verdi in Milan for Bongiovanni.
