Piotr Staniszewski


Piotr Staniszewski is a Polish conductor and violinist. He studied violin at the Academy of Music in Gdańsk and conducting at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. He is a prize-winner of numerous national and international violin and chamber music competitions. In the 2011/2012 season he began working as an assistant conductor at the Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera in Warsaw, collaborating with Andriy Yurkevich, Stefan Soltesz and Gabriel Chmura.

At the Polish National Opera, he has conducted operas Die Zauberflöte, Nabucco, Madama Butterfly and Il turco in Italia, as well as the ballets The Taming of the Shrew, Fredriana (world premiere) and Swan Lake. In 2019 he toured Canada with the Polish National Ballet, conducting Swan Lake.

In the 2023/24 season he made his debut at the National Theatre Opera (Prague), conducting a new State Opera production of Verdi’s Nabucco. In recent years, he has also appeared with ensembles and orchestras in Switzerland, Germany, Finland and at major festivals in Warsaw, Sopot and Turku.
