Petar Naydenov
Bulgarian bass Petar Naydenov began his musical training at the age of five, studying the violin. He later studied voice at the National Academy of Music in Sofia and further developed his artistry under the guidance of Ghena Dimitrova, Nicola Ghiuselev and Roberto Scandiuzzi.
He made his operatic debut in the title role of Mozart’s Don Giovanni at the Sofia National Opera, followed by Figaro in Le nozze di Figaro and Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte at the Slovenian National Theatre Maribor. From 2012 to 2015, he was a member of the Vienna Volksoper, where his roles included Ferrando, Timur, Colline, Hagen and Sparafucile.
His guest engagements have taken him to opera houses in Graz, Linz, Helsinki, Trieste, Bologna, Cagliari, Malmö, Bergen, Tel Aviv, Cairo and other cities. His repertoire includes major bass roles such as Philip II in Don Carlo, Zaccaria in Nabucco, Ramfis in Aida, Gremin in Eugene Onegin, Méphistophélès in Faust and Nilakantha in Delibes’ Lakmé, a role he has performed on several occasions at the Sofia National Opera. In 2009, he reached the quarter-finals of the Operalia competition. In 2023, he performed the title role in Verdi’s Attila at the Albanian National Opera in Tirana.
