Mircea Golescu


Mircea Golescu completed his studies at the Liceul de Choreographie Dino Lipati in Bucharest. During his schooling, he worked with the National Romanian Opera in Bucharest, participating in performances such as La Bayadere, The Nutcracker, and others. Additionally, he took part in the International Ballet Competition in Constanța. In 1996, he became a ballet dancer at the Ballet of the Slovene National Theatre Maribor. There, he performed chorus and solo roles in various ballets, including Giselle, Swan Lake, Coppelia, Spartak, Carmen, Dance of the Cadets, Francesca da Rimini, Scheherazade, Sleeping Beauty, West Side Story, Pohujšanje (a co-production with Cankarjev dom), Transylvania, and many others.

He also participated in numerous tours across Slovenia and internationally, including the USA, Taiwan, France, Portugal, Italy, Serbia, Russia, Finland, Japan, and various other countries. He collaborated with several theaters and choreographers, such as HNK Zagreb, Radford University Theatre, Edward Clug, Valentina Turcu, Matjaž Farič, Iztok Kovač, Valerij Kovtun, Leo Mujić, Zoran Markovič, Johan Inger, Alexander Ekman, and others. In these collaborations, he portrayed several secondary solo roles, including the Chinese Dance, Franz, Russian Dance and Harlequin in The Nutcracker, Fire Dance in La Bayadere, Cat in Sleeping Beauty, Sancho Pansa in Don Quixote, and Gypsy Dance in Die Fledermaus.

For the past 19 years, Mircea Golescu has been teaching ballet and leading ballet trainees at various music schools, including Rogaška Slatina Music School, Slovenske Konjice Music School, Anton Bogov Ballet Academy, and Anton Martin Slomšek Music and Ballet School.”
