Darija Auguštan


Born in Zagreb in 1996, the acclaimed Croatian soprano has left a significant mark on both operatic and concert stages, in her homeland as well as abroad. She completed her vocal studies at the Academy of Music in Zagreb under the mentorship of Professor Snježana Bujanović Stanislav.

Despite her young age, she already boasts an impressive range of leading operatic and operetta roles, including Musetta, Pamina, Fiordiligi, Adele, Countess Marica, Lauretta, Magda, Micaëla, and the Vixen. With her versatility and talent, she captivates audiences in both opera productions and concert performances.

She was a member of the Giorgio Surian Opera Studio at the Croatian National Theatre (HNK) in Rijeka and a scholarship recipient of the renowned artist Mirjana Bohanec Vidović as well as the Belcanto Foundation. She made her debut at the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb in 2019 as the First Lady in Mozart’s The Magic Flute. In 2020, she first appeared at the HNK Ivana pl. Zajca in Rijeka as Micaëla in Bizet’s Carmen, further strengthening her presence on the Croatian music scene. Since 2022, she has been a member of the soloist ensemble of the HNK Opera in Zagreb.

She has already performed in concert with the Zagreb Philharmonic, the Symphony Orchestra and Choir of Croatian Radio Television, and many other ensembles at home and abroad. She regularly presents solo recitals, most often accompanied by the renowned pianists Dora Iveković and Vedran Janjanin.

Her talent has been recognized at numerous national and international competitions, where she has won prestigious awards, including the Croatian Theatre Award and the Ivo Vuljević, Sarah Bernhardt, and Young Musician of the Year 2021 prizes, as well as prizes at the Virgilijus Noreika, Zinka Milanov, Stanisław Moniuszko, Tomas Kutti, Mikuláš Schneider-Trnavský, Mario Orlandoni, Tulio Serafin, and Papandopulo competitions.

She is steadily building her international career, with performances in Italy, Austria, Slovakia, Poland, France, Germany, Estonia, and beyond. In 2021 she made her Italian debut at the historic Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza as Sifare in Mozart’s Mitridate, Re di Ponto. By 2023 she had captivated audiences at the Teatro Verdi in Trieste as Pamina in The Magic Flute. In 2024 she appeared in Bologna as Lauretta. Among her upcoming engagements are Violetta (La traviata) in France and Antonia (The Tales of Hoffmann) in Düsseldorf.

She has also collaborated with distinguished musicians such as Tomislav Fačini, Marcello Mottadelli, Beatrice Venezi, Valentin Egel, Kakhi Solomnishvili, Ivo Lipanović, Giampaolo Bisanti, Plácido Domingo, Vittorio Grigolo, and Roberto Abbado, further confirming her reputation as a rising star on the international opera scene.
