Petya Ivanova
Petya Ivanova is one of the most exciting artists of her generation. Her voice can be easily distinguished by its clear colour, sensual centre and striking tops. Petya Ivanova graduated at the Music College in Rousse and the National Academy of Music in Sofia, Bulgaria. The young artist had been bestowed with numerous awards – she won the second prize at the International Opera Contest Iris Adami Corradett in Padua, the second prize and the award of the public at the International Opera Belcanto Contest in Rijeka, the first prize at the International Opera Competition "Ondina Otta” in Maribor, the special prize of the International Opera Contest "Boris Christoff”, as well as the second prize at the International Opera Contest "Christo Brambarov” in Sofia. She was a regular guest soloist already as young artist of many concert and opera venues: she performed title role of Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor in Aalto Theatre in Essen, at Opera in Bonn and Tiroler Landestheater Innsbruck, as Elvira in I Puritani again to Essen, as Lakmé in Sofia National Opera and Maribor National Theatre, as well as Gilda in Klagenfurt City Theatre, the Schwerin Festival, Ljubljana Summer Festival, etc. Her highly acclaimed breakthrough was with the Queen of the Night at the Staatsoper Wien, the Volksoper Wien and the Hamburg State Opera. Her repertoire comprises demanding roles with the Italian repertoire, such as Gilda, Rosina, Musetta, Nannetta, Violetta, Lucia, Elvira, which she portrayed in the opera houses across Europe. She is also very much in demand for roles, such as Lakmé, Olympia, Zerlina, Despina, or Cunigonde in Bernstein's Candide. She is a very sought-after as a concert singer. Her most notable collaborations were with the Kuopio Philharmonic Orchestra, Finland, the Radio Symphony Orchestra of Ljubljana, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Sofia and the Philharmonic Orchestra of Sarajevo. She was an often featured artists in recitals and concerts in France, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Austria, Germany, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Croatia, Finland and Russia. She had also participated in Gala Concert at Osaka Music Festival in Japan. Her concert repertoire features rarities like Concert for a coloratura soprano and orchestra by Reinhold Glière, Lauda per la natività del Signor by Respighi, Davide penitente by Mozart, Como cierva sedienta by Arvo Pärt and Stabat Mater by Poulenc. Her soprano engagements include Rosina at Theater St. Gallen, Lucia in Concertgebouw of Amsterdam, Violetta Valéry in the Netherlands, Gilda (Rigoletto), Micaëla (Carmen), etc.
