Rafal Karczmarczyk


Conductor of the young generation. He has been associated with the Wrocław Opera since the 2018/2019 season, where he currently holds the position of Orchestra Director. In 2018, he graduated with honors from conducting studies at the academy of Music in Kraków, in the class of Paweł Przytocki. He also honed his skills at the Conservatorio Santa Cecilia in Rome and the Hudební Akademie Múzických Umění in Prague.

At the Wrocław Opera, he has conducted numerous opera and ballet performances. His artistic activity includes serving as the music director for significant ballet premieres. In 2024, he prepared and conducted the Polish premiere of the classic ballet Napoli 1841 and the premiere of The Snow Queen with music by Max Richter. The following year, he took on the musical direction of the Polish premiere of the ballet Frida with music by Peter Salem.

He has collaborated with many ensembles, such as the Beethoven Academy Orchestra, the Łódź, Koszalin, Gorzów, and Zielona Góra Philharmonic Orchestras, and the Orchestra of the Academy of Music in Kraków. From 2015 to 2018, he served as an assistant conductor at the Kraków Youth Philharmonic.
